Why Start Preparing for CUET 2027 Early?

Latest CUET UG Exam Pattern for 2027 Aspirants
The CUET UG 2027 information bulletin is not out yet. Until it is, the latest 2026 pattern is the best guide for the CUET UG 2027 exam pattern:
- 37 subjects in total: 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and one General Aptitude Test (GAT).
- Up to five subjects: In 2026, students could choose a maximum of five subjects. You do not take all 37.
- Computer-based test: The exam is held online at test centres.
- 60 minutes per paper: Each paper has 50 questions, and all are compulsory.
- Marking: +5 for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong one.
In the revised CUET UG subject structure introduced in 2025, six domain subjects from the earlier list were discontinued: Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies and Engineering Graphics. Check the latest NTA subject list before selecting your papers.
NTA has not yet confirmed whether this pattern will stay the same for CUET 2027. Please verify the final details in the official 2027 bulletin.
CUET 2027 Syllabus: What Should You Study?
The official CUET 2027 syllabus has not been released yet. For now, use the 2026 syllabus as your reference.
- Language papers: Reading comprehension, vocabulary and literary aptitude.
- Domain subjects: Subject-specific topics listed in the official NTA syllabus. Refer to the prescribed syllabus and the relevant NCERT textbooks wherever applicable.
- General Aptitude Test: General knowledge, current affairs, logical reasoning and numerical ability.
Some CUET topics are not part of the current board syllabus, so always check the official subject-wise list.
Month-Wise CUET 2027 Preparation Plan
Here is a simple CUET 2027 preparation plan that works alongside your board studies:
- October–November 2026: Know the Syllabus, Pick Your Subjects
Check what your target course and university require. Then choose your languages, domain subjects and GAT (if needed).
- November 2026–January 2027: Build Strong Basics
Study each chapter from the NTA syllabus using NCERT and other relevant textbooks. Make short notes you can revise later.
- December 2026–February 2027: Practise the General Aptitude Test
Give a little time every day to reasoning, basic maths, general knowledge and current affairs. Short daily practice beats long weekend sessions.
- January–March 2027: Topic-Wise Practice
Solve questions after finishing each chapter. This shows you which topics need extra work while there is still time.
- March–April 2027: Mock Tests and Analysis
Take full-length, timed mock tests every week. Then study your mistakes carefully, because that is where your score improves.
- April 2027 till the exam: Final Revision
Revise your notes and tricky questions. Avoid new topics now. Sleep well and stay positive.
Sample Daily Routine
| Activity | Suggested Time |
| Domain subject preparation | 2 hours |
| Language practice | 30 minutes |
| General Aptitude Test | 30 minutes |
| Revision | 30 minutes |
| Practice questions | 30 minutes |
Attempt full-length mock tests once or twice a week, depending on your preparation level. Spend time reviewing wrong answers and understanding why you made each mistake.
This is only a sample routine. Adjust it to your subjects and your board exam schedule.
A smart CUET preparation strategy is to prepare for boards and CUET together wherever the syllabus overlaps.
How to Choose CUET Subjects for Your Target University
Before you pick your subjects, check the programme-wise eligibility and subject requirements of your target universities. The required combination can differ from one university, and even one course, to another.
| University | What to Check |
| Delhi University | Course-specific CUET subject combinations |
| BHU | Programme eligibility and required subjects |
| JNU | CUET requirements for individual UG programmes |
| Panjab University | Admission route and programme-specific eligibility |
Not every course at these universities admits students in the same way. Always read the latest admission guidelines on each university’s official website.
Common CUET Preparation Mistakes to Avoid
- Studying only the board syllabus without checking the official CUET syllabus.
- Choosing subjects without checking the university’s course requirements.
- Avoiding timed mocks, which hurts speed on exam day.
- Ignoring negative marking and not practising accuracy.
- Leaving GAT practice until the last few weeks.
CUET Coaching vs Self-Study: Which Approach Suits You?
Both can work. Many disciplined students prepare well on their own with the right books and a fixed routine.
Coaching can still make the path easier. A set study plan keeps you consistent, regular mock tests show where you stand, and quick doubt-solving stops you from getting stuck.
Choose what suits your learning style and schedule. Students from Mohali and Panchkula also come to Chandigarh for guided preparation, and online batches are an option if travel is difficult.
