UGC NET exam
The National Eligibility Test, also recognized as UGC NET or NTA-UGC-NET. is the examination for determining the eligibility for the post of assistant professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship award in Indian universities and colleges. UGC NET is a national-level exam conducted to discover aspirants who are eligible for the post of Assistant Professor or JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) & Assistant Professor both. The full form of UGC NET is University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test. The UGC NET is conducted to select the aspirants for Assistant Professor or for both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in the Colleges and Universities in India. UGC NET is conducted to determine candidates’ eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professorship. - Candidates should be not more than 31 years as on October 1, 2021, to apply for the JRF post

What is the Educational Qualification under UGC NET exam Eligibility Criteria 2020-21?
Candidates will have to fulfil certain educational qualifications to be eligible for UGC NET exam 2021. The UGC NET 2021 educational qualifications have been specified below:
- Candidates belonging to the open/unreserved category must score a minimum of 50% in their master (MA, M.Sc, M.Com, M.Tech, MBA etc.) or equivalent degree.
- OBC/ST/SC/PWD/Transgender candidates are also required to score minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their Masters or equivalent degree.
- Candidates who are currently in the final year of their Master’s degree are also eligible for UGC NET 2021 given that they fulfil the educational requirements given above within two years.
- According to the eligibility criteria of UGC NET 2021, PhD holders who have completed their master’s degree before September 19, 1992, are eligible to get a relaxation of 5% aggregate marks.
- Applicants who have a post-graduate diploma/certificate from any Indian University or institute or have completed a degree/diploma/certificate from any Foreign University or the institute must make sure that their master’s degree is recognized by Indian universities from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (aiu.ac.in).
