Railway Station Master Recruitment 2026: 1250 Vacancies, Dates and Apply Online

Railway Station Master Recruitment 2026

Graduates, this one’s for you. The Railway Station Master Recruitment 2026 short notice is out, and it talks about roughly 1,250 posts under CEN 08/2026. Online forms are expected to open on 27 October 2026. Last date? 25 November 2026, going by the notice.

The bigger story, honestly, is the format. For years, Station Master came bundled with RRB NTPC Graduate. Not anymore. This time it has its own recruitment, its own form and, from what’s being reported, a fresh syllabus too.

Now, a short notice isn’t the full story. The detailed notification will settle the fine print, and until then a few things here are tentative. We’ve said so wherever it applies. Keep the RRB website and rrbapply.gov.in handy.

Railway Station Master Vacancy 2026

Around 1,250 seats. That’s the number everyone is quoting.

What’s still missing is the split, both RRB-wise and category-wise (UR, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS). Railway vacancy figures also tend to move a bit between the short notice and the final CEN, sometimes up, sometimes down. So don’t build your plans around the exact figure just yet.

Small thing, but students mix this up every year: an announced date doesn’t mean the form is live. Check the portal for the actual link.

Eligibility: Who Can Apply?

Qualification. A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university, as things stand. Any stream should do, but wait for the detailed CEN to confirm what counts as “equivalent”.

Age. 20 to 30 years is the figure doing the rounds. Notice the minimum: 20, not 18. The cut-off date for counting age, and the relaxations for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates, aren’t out yet. Don’t go by WhatsApp forwards on this one.

Medical. This is a safety job, so fitness is checked properly, and eyesight especially. Wear specs? Read the medical section of the CEN first. Better to know before the exam than after it.

Application Fee

Not mentioned in the short notice. The amount, refund rules and exemptions will come with the detailed notification. And please, pay only on the official portal. No agents, no third-party links.

How to Apply Online

When the link goes live, it should go something like this:

  1. Open rrbapply.gov.in.
  2. Find the Station Master notice and read the full CEN. Yes, all of it.
  3. Register or log in, following the steps the portal shows.
  4. Enter your name, date of birth and other details exactly as on your certificates.
  5. Pick your RRB and finish the form.
  6. Upload your photo, signature and documents in the size asked.
  7. Pay the fee, if it applies to you.
  8. Recheck, submit, and save the confirmation page and payment receipt.

If the official notice says something different, go with the notice.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

Four stages, going by current reports: a CBT, then a CBAT (the computer-based aptitude test), then document verification and the medical.

The syllabus is where it gets interesting. Reports mention maths, basic science, data interpretation, reasoning and English reading comprehension. Marks per section, timing, negative marking and the merit formula aren’t official yet, so we won’t guess.

Railway Station Master Salary 2026

Level 6 under the 7th Pay Commission. Basic pay starts at ₹35,400 a month, and DA, HRA and transport allowance come on top. The in-hand figure depends on your posting city and deductions, so it’ll differ from person to person.

As for the work, you’re responsible for train movements and operations at your station. It’s a responsible job, not a desk one. Promotions come with service, experience and departmental selections.

Documents to Arrange Now

  • Class 10 certificate (for date of birth)
  • Graduation degree and mark sheets
  • Category certificate, if applicable (check that it’s still valid)
  • ID proof
  • A recent photo and scanned signature

The official list may add a few more. Keep scans ready anyway; it saves panic in the last week.

Preparing for the Station Master Exam

Don’t sit idle till the CEN drops. Daily maths and reasoning, a couple of English passages, and one timed test a week will put you well ahead of most applicants.
