Institute of Banking Personnel (IBPS) mainly conducts exams for students who are looking for their career in banking sector. The students who are qualified in IBPS by writing different exams will be recruited for public banks in the nation (Except SBI).

IBPS conducts exams every year in 4 different exams. Every exam held within a period of 3-4 months. Four different Exams of IBPS are:

 

    • IBPS PO (Probationary Officer) Exam
    • IBPS Specialist Officers Exam
    • IBPS RRB (Regional Rural Bank) PO and Assistant Exam

IBPS PO is the topic which the article  talks and this is the first exam and it is the entry level exam of IBPS. PO is Probationary Officer i.e; in simple words it is the role of an assistant manager for public banks in india.

When a candidate gets selected for the post of Probationary Officer through IBPS PO 2018 Examination, he/ she first serves a probation period of 2 years (that varies across different Public Sector Banks). After the bank employee completes her probation period, she appears for an internal exam conducted by the bank he/ she is serving for. One can be promoted internally when they attend an exam which promotes the candidate from PO to Deputy manager.  

The responsibilities of a PO would be public relations, monitor and regulate branch activities & tasks, address customer related issues & grievances, approve & monitor daily transactions of branch & customers and handle the processing of loans.It is a multi tasking job and the PO should be real quick in their work to handle everything in a balance. The salary of a PO varies from 34000 INR to 4300 INR per month.

According to IBPS PO 2018 notifications, the online registration was started on 14th August and the last day was declared as september 4th, 2018. Exam dates are scheduled in Oct and Nov with respect to complete the two phases in IBPS PO.

Exam pattern:

IBPS PO is an online exam and this pattern has two phases.

 

 

  • Prelims

 

1.English language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability are the three sectional tests which completes this phase.

2.Candidates need to solve the question paper for three tests in the given time frame i.e; 20 minutes for each section.

3.The composite score of this exam is for 100 marks but the passing score will be decided by IBPS as it keeps changing every year based on the difficulty level of the exam.

4.Candidates have to qualify the minimum cut off marks which will be decided by IBPS to proceed for them mains.

 

 

  • Mains

 

1.IBPS PO mains 2018 will now have 200 questions in total and the time frame for the exam will be 120 minutes.

2.The objectives of mains exam remains the same from prelims but with an additional touch of Computer knowledge and General/ Financial awareness. Time frame for each section varies.
