What is IBPS?

Career of an IBPS Clerk

It is understood that for a candidate to be in a clerical position has to clear IBPS Clerk exam which is conducted by IBPS every year.

Promotions in banking sector always reminds you as a bank aspirant! After being selected as a “Clerk officer,” the candidate will get multiple chances to be promoted to the higher level. The increment depends on candidate’s performance during the probation period of six months, it may vary from bank to bank.

For the candidates who wants to get promoted as an officer, needs to clear the promotion test. To undergo this test, the candidate has to be eligible for at least 2 years in the bank.

Eligibilities to apply for IBPS Clerk :

  • Age of the candidates must be  20 – 28 years.
  • Minimum qualification of graduation in any discipline from a recognised university.


Exam pattern:

IBPS Clerk is an online exam and this pattern has two phases.


  • Prelims

1.English language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability are the three sectional tests which completes this phase.

2.Candidates need to solve the question paper for three tests in the given time frame i.e; 20 minutes for each section.

3.The composite score of this exam is for 100 marks but the passing score will be decided by IBPS as it keeps changing every year based on the difficulty level of the exam.

4.Candidates have to qualify the minimum cut off marks which will be decided by IBPS to proceed for them mains.



  • Mains

1.IBPS Clerk mains 2018 will now have 200 questions in total and the time frame for the exam will be 120 minutes.

2.The objectives of mains exam remains the same from prelims but with an additional touch of Computer knowledge and General/ Financial awareness. Time frame for each section varies.
